Catch a Sunrise/Sunset at Lake Merritt
Although you won’t be up on a hill or at a high vantage point like Grizzly Peak, you will be in the heart of the action at Lake Merritt. With fiery skies and lake reflections, this is a sight to see for the start or end of your days.
Get Active around the Lakeside Track
Because the weather is so nice in the Bay Area pretty much year round, people are always out capitalizing on it. When the weather is right, it’s hard place to top for some outdoor exercise. Run, bike, skateboard, skate, walk, crawl. It’s all yours on the 3.4 mile roundabout track.
Lake Merritt in Oakland CA is a PHOTOGRAPHERS haven
A picture is a worth a thousands words they say. If you bring the camera out you are going to have to write a novel for the amount of words that will be present. The lake offers countless options for amazing photography chances with its changing scenery around each corner of the lake.
Food Variety and Proximity
How could I have not mentioned one of the best parts about the lake yet? Food! Well, with the punch this place packs, it’s hard to determine what the best part is. When its time for you to eat, you definitely have found yourself in the right spot. Oakland’s food scene is very diverse and its proximity at each section of the lake gives you a chance to taste it all. I prefer the options on the Grand Side of the lake because of the amount of options packed into that area.
Stand up paddleboards, boating, kayaks, rowing, the world is yours when it’s time for water based activities. Get in there and soak it up. Just don’t drink or swim in the water.
