If you’re in Medellin, and want an experience you will never forget, consider adding a Paragliding experience to your Colombia bucket list!
The most popular place to go paragliding in Medellin is in San Felix. San Felix is located just outside of Medellin and is relatively pretty simple to visit.
Depending on traffic and transportation options, the timing could be anywhere between 45 minutes to 2 hours
Here is the address for getting to GTopik in Medellin:
Carretera Medellín San Felix estadero el Voladero segundo piso Oficina GTOPIK, Bello, Antioquia, Colombia
These are your options of getting to GTopik from Medellin.
Door to Door Transport
Metro to Bus Transit Option
Uber
GTopiks check in area is adjacent to the main road, making it almost impossible to miss.
The office is on the second floor and is self explanatory to find when you arrive.
The Pre Flight process is very easy and professional with GTopik. Make your payment, sign your waivers and watch a brief pre flight safety video.
Post video you will gather your courage and begin the climb up these arduous stairs to the launch zone.
After catching your breath from the scenery & stairway to heaven, you need to check in with the launch zone staff.
I’m certain that they used these stairs to dissuade anyone who was on the fence about doing this activity as it gave you that “am I really going through with this?”.
Depending on day and crowds, wait times can vary. However for myself and Gibbo, we were up in the air within 7 minutes of arrival.
The zone was nothing but good energy & roughly 70 people partaking, waiting, watching & biting fingernails.
The cost of paragliding in Medellin at GTopik is: 130,000 COP ($40) for 15 minutes!
Each additional 5 minutes = 30000 COP ($10)
San Felix paragliding doesn’t include photo or video services in their paragliding packages. You can choose to bring your own gear or rent their action cameras for your flight.
The photo/video package costs an additional $15 and includes a selfie stick, 8GB memory card and GoPro equivalent camera.
Most people opt for this rental to capture some unbelievable photos of themselves paragliding in Medellin!
Some of the best money I have ever spent, aside from buying the ticket to get to Colombia. It may seem like a budget breaker but comparatively this price and scenery cant be matched.
If something happens & you get cold feet, the scenery at GTopiks launch zone & office area are more than worth your time. The landscape, energy & fresher mountain air make the voyage unforgettable.
Birthday month? Video & photo package covered in your month. Feliz cumpleaños for your Medellin Paragliding experience.
Found a cheaper price? GTOPIK wants your business & will price match whatever that cost is to get you to experience Medellin Paragliding at its best.
And now I know what everyone has been thinking the whole time while reading this…….
For those who aren’t biting the bait right away & have to get talked into it, yes it’s safe.
All activities have their dangers but the professionalism & certifications of these pilots make everything smoother than grandmas butter.
