Oakland’s Kaiser Rooftop Garden
Whether or not you are from the Bay, there’s a good shot you haven’t been to Oakland’s Kaiser Rooftop Garden. Situated on the 5th floor of Kaisers parking structure, this hidden gem shines bright like a diamond (Rihanna, yes). Take a nap, snap some pictures, gander at the geese, grab a snack, it’s all here for the taking.
Oakland’s Kaiser Rooftop Garden is one of the most tranquil areas of Oakland and a great place to sit and reflect. Not only to find some respite, but admire the reflections of the variety of plant species, adjacent buildings, and wildlife. A cafe complements the pond but the real reason for your visit is to escape the hustle and bustle of down below.
Getting to Oakland’s Kaiser Rooftop Garden
The garden is open daily from 9-5 and is accessible to everyone for free. I highly recommend getting here now before anymore high rises take a piece of the sunlight. Located at 300 Lakeside Drive, find the staircase in the parking structure and walk up 5 flights or take the elevator. If you don’t get to the area much, you can easily pair a day at the lake with a trip to the garden as it is only a block away from Lake Merrit.
Does your crush live near by? Do your schedules line up for a midday date? This might be the ultimate first date spot if the weather holds.
Have you been the garden? What’s your favorite part about it?
What else can I do in the Oakland area?
If you are visiting and want to do more than just see the rooftop garden, I don’t blame you. Hit Lake Merritt, go explore Uptown, or if the A’s are around, go see a Ballgame. If you can’t decide, send me a message here!
Drop a line, comment, share and let know people what they are missing up above. It’s only a matter of time before everyone else finds out. Need to find another scenic spot in the bay? Make sure you visit one of my favorite places in the Bay for a Sunrise/Sunset
