Whether or not you are from the Bay, there’s a good shot you haven’t been to Kaisers Rooftop Garden. Situated on the 5th floor of Kaisers parking structure, this hidden gem shines bright like a diamond (Rihanna, yes). Take a nap, snap some pictures, gander at the geese, grab a snack, it’s all here for the taking.
The Garden is one of the most tranquil areas of Oakland and a great place to sit and reflect. Not only to sit and reflect, but admire the reflections of the variety of plant species, adjacent buildings, and wildlife. A cafe complements the pond but the real reason for your visit is to escape the hustle and bustle down below.
Getting to the Garden
The garden is open daily from 9-5 and is freely accessible to anyone. I highly recommend getting here now before anymore high rises take a piece of the sunlight. Located at 300 Lakeside Drive, find the staircase in the parking structure and walk up 5 flights or take the elevator. If you don’t get to the area much, you can easily pair a day at the lake with a trip to the garden as it is adjacent to the lake.
Does your crush live near by? Do your schedules line up for a midday date? This might be the ultimate first date spot if the weather holds.
Have you been the garden? What’s your favorite part about it?
Drop a line, comment, share and let know people what they are missing up above. It’s only a matter of time before everyone else finds out.
